Chevron Media Center

Will Rogers Middle School offers its teachers and students many opportunities to use technology in the learning process. The following technology resources are currently available.

 Computer Labs

  • Our school computer lab features 35 MacMini desktop computers which are designed for student use. Teachers sign up their classes to use the labs to participate in a variety of technology related assignments using these computers. The computer lab (room 28) and the library / media center are also open to students during lunchtime and after school many days.

 Portable devices in the classroom

  • Rogers has 20 carts with class sets of Google Chromebooks. These devices are for use by students in the classroom. Students use their Lawndale Elementary School District provided Google accounts to login, conduct research, publish, communicate, collaborate, create and participate in a wide variety of projects and activities to help build 21st Century skills.
  • Rogers has 3 iPad carts for use in classrooms. Utilizing quality educational apps, iPads help ensure that learning is fun and exciting while meeting the needs of our 21st century learners.

 Interactive Boards

  • All classrooms where students meet have an interactive whiteboard here at Rogers.  Interactive boards are used to enhance the learning environment by giving teachers a tool to create dynamic and highly interactive lessons.

 Chevron 21st Century Media Center

  • Our school library / media center has been updated thanks to a generous donation from the Chevron Corporation. The use of modular seating arrangements and portable devices (Chromebooks) enable student to use the Chevron Library Media Center (LMC) for collaborative research and interactive lessons. With its multi-screen setup, and high quality auido sound system, this 21st century learning space allows for immersive student presentations and 

 1:1 Chromebook Take Home Program

  • We are continuing to expand the 1:1 student Chromebook take home program. Students in this program are given a touchscreen Chromebook at the beginning of the year. This instructional device is used at school and at home for educational purposes until it is turned back into the school in June. Teachers who are a part of the program are continually collaborating and planning in order to maximize student learning both in and out of the physical classroom environment. Specialized multimedia and instructional software will also be used to help facilitate 21st century learning goals.
  • Year 1 (17-18)  1 - 6th grade team participated
  • Year 2 (18-19)  2 - 6th grade teams will participate
  • Year 3 (19-20)  All 6th and 7th grade students will participate
  • Year 4 (20-21)  All 6th, 7th and 8th grade students will participate
