The girls volleyball team finished their league season with a very impressive 5-1 record.  The Panthers finished alone in 2nd place with their only loss being to a very talented Dana team.  This earned the girls a 2nd seed which gives them home court advantage throughout the playoffs.  Their 1st playoff game will hopefully be the week of Nov. 6th depending on how the rest of the league finishes.  Stay tuned for the playoff schedule.

The Flag football squad is currently 0-3-1.  Although they lost their first 3 games, they played all those games very close and tied JAMS last week on the road.  The boys play Hawthorne at Hawthorne Nov. 9th and if they win, they have a shot to make playoffs.  Go Panthers

Dear Lawndale Family,

As our community is experiencing high temperatures this week, Lawndale Elementary School District is implementing heat protocols to help ensure that our students, staff and schools remain as cool as possible.

  • All students and staff should be in air-conditioned or shaded areas as much as possible.
  • Avoid strenuous activities and drink water throughout the day.
  • Wear light, loose-fitting clothing and wear sunscreen.
  • Students should immediately tell their teacher or another adult if they feel ill due to the heat.

Thank you for your continued support, and try to stay cool!

This weekend, the Will Rogers Robotics team competed at the annual First LEGO League Qualifying tournament hosted by Windward Charter school. Although they did not advance to regional qualifying tournament, the team impressed the judges with their solution to the problem of wild elephant poaching and showed gracious professionalism (along with other FLL core values) throughout the day. The team also built a LEGO robot which displayed innovative design features and employed standard programming protocols. Mrs. Tegtmeier and Mr. Foster are very proud of the team and will continue to host "off season" practice so that the they can continue to prepare for next year's competition!

The Rogers boys flag football team got their 3rd straight win 20-0 vs Prairie Vista on Thurs 11/3 improving to 3-2. The boys Flag Football team defeated Dana 20-6 to earn their first win of the season.  With great Quarterback play by D'Arie Jones throwing touchdowns to both Rodrick Gordon and Daniel Leanos and a long run by Salomone Ahoia, the offense seems to be hitting stride at just the right time.  Their defense was solid throughout the whole game lead by Rogelio Soto and Makai Griffin on the defensive line and Joshua Sanchez and Charles Keymermateng at linebackers.  The Panthers look for their second win in a row as they play Jane Addams this Thursday 10/27 at home at 2pm.
