If you child is absent please call the office the day of the absence at 310-676-1197. If you have a doctor's appt. please bring in the doctor's note the next day. Your child should not be absent unless they are ill.

Rogers Middle School Vision and Mission
Will Rogers' mission is to prepare students to become citizen leaders of the 21st Century. Rogers expects academic excellence from every student. We enable each student to maximize their potential through an outstanding educational program. Students are engaged in critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration and communication in a standards-based curriculum. Rogers believes in project based learning with a focus on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Will Rogers Middle School is organized into small learning communities where every student is known, valued for their contributions, and nurtured.

It gives me great pleasure, as Principal of Will Rogers Middle School, to welcome you to the official Will Rogers Middle School website. Our website has been prepared in the hope that it will become for families, a valuable source of school news and timely information. Our website has been developed to enable everyone to become familiar with our school, its policies, and other procedures that are essential for our student’s success at school, as well as to provide you with updated school news, schedules and events.  Our staff takes great pride in providing a safe and secure learning environment, while offering a wide array of exciting and challenging academic programs.


We welcome all parents to get involved by attending school activities.  We regularly post all parent meetings and opportunities on our websites.  We invite our families to attend our Parent Nights, School Site Council (SSC), English Language Advisory Council (ELAC), District English Language Advisory Council (DELAC), and Parent Teacher Association (PTA) meetings.  We also have Family Math Nights, English Language Learner Parent Night, A-G Parent Night, Back-to-School Night and Open House.


Rogers students have a wide variety of extracurricular activities, both academic and recreational to choose from. Our entire staff is committed to establishing a school environment that allows our students to flourish and to grow intellectually, emotionally, and socially. Our website is updated regularly to provide visitors with updated bulletins and news on a variety of subjects.

Science Olympiad Team Forming Now!

Do you like to build bottle rockets, launchers, gliders, bridges, cars  and other contraptions and use them in  competition?  Are you a mad scientist with dreams of someday having a job like those in CSI?  Do bugs, diseases, anatomy, fossils, stars or weather interest you?  If any of these totally geeky, yet cool things sound interesting, and you want to be a part of something that may make you accidentally like science, come and join us for the 2015 Science Olympiad informational meeting next Wednesday, Oct. 8, in room 28, immediately after school. Talk to your science teacher if you have any questions.

Start Bringing in Box Tops!

The Rogers Box Tops Competition is back! Start collecting Box Tops from your favorite brands and turn them in to your period 3 teacher. Each month, Leadership will collect the Box Tops and determine the top three classes who will win points for their team toward the year-long spirit competition. Each Box Top is worth $0.10 for Rogers' student activities, so we need everyone's help!

Spirit Competition: Purple & Black Day (Thu., Oct. 9)

We are kicking off the Rogers Year-long Spirit Competition with Purple and Black Day on Thu., Oct. 9. Wear both colors to school to help your team earn spirit points; the teams with the highest percentage of participation earns 1000 spirit points. 2nd place earns 750 spirit points, and 3rd place earns 500 spirit points. Wear your Panther colors and support your team!

The Year-long Spirit Competition is ON!

The Rogers Year-long Spirit Competition is ON! This year, there will be 2 concurrent competitions: the 6th grade teams will compete against each other, while the 7th and 8th grade teams will band together as a grade level to battle each other. At the end of the school year, we will see which 6th grade team prevails and whether the 7th grade or the 8th grade will come out on top. Stay tuned for on-going opportunities to help your team earn spirit points. Here are some upcoming spirit events:

  • On-going/monthly: Box Tops Competition

Cross Country Applications Now Available!

The Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams are signing up students for this season's teams. If you like to run and would like to win medals, please see Mr. Lewis in the Gym for an application. First practice will be Monday  at 3:10 on the track.
